Planets That Seem to Have Fallen From Space Onto the Libyan Desert
Imagine visiting dozens of planets on foot, of different sizes and colours, shaped like balls thrown on the ground. The Tuareg call it Wadi Oun Takofi, meaning ‘source of foam’, due to an ancient water well in the valley famous for the foam that comes out before the water.
Amazing Places You Will Only Find in the Libyan Desert
A visit to a group of natural lakes in the middle of the Libyan desert, full of treasures and oddities. My attention was drawn to the strange colours and shapes among the lakes and the various birds. These lakes, numbering approximately 44, are a very important tourist heritage and a destination for foreign tourists.
A Wonder of the World's Natural Wonders
A tourist treasure in the Libyan desert, ranked by National Geographic in 2009 among the ten most beautiful natural landscapes in the world.
This is exactly what I witnessed while filming my documentary. While driving, the colour of the desert road changed from its usual yellow to black, as if darkness had fallen were it not for the blue sky. We were then surprised by a huge crater, fifteen kilometres in diameter, in the middle of which was a volcanic mountain surrounded by the strangest lakes I have ever seen: a green lake, an orange lake, a grey lake, and smaller lakes scattered around. Palm trees and diverse desert plants surrounded each lake, along with black sand from volcanic ash.
Simply entering Waw Al-Namous is like entering a divine painting, which we are proud to have on Libyan soil.
